Lorenzo Sierra credits prayer, science, and the love of a good woman for him being alive. As a councilmember in the Phoenix suburb of Avondale, Sierra championed his community while supporting his wife Rhonda Cagle as she battled advanced breast cancer.

Elected to the Arizona House of Representatives, Sierra fought his way back to life from the ICU ward at The Johns Hopkins Hospital after nearly dying from COVID 19. A changing political landscape meant searching his soul for wisdom in uncertain times, while leaning into the love of his wife and family.
 

An award-winning communications professional and political consultant, Sierra is a mainstay on Arizona news and public affairs programs, and guest on MSNBC and NPR. His articles about his COVID-19 experience have appeared in USA Today and The Arizona Republic.

 

Sierra and his wife live with two rescue dogs and he is the proud father of three adult children.
